Five For Winning: Senators 3, Oilers 2

AUTHOR: Bobby Zijiac | IN: Senators | COMMENTS: None Yet

Did the referees give us this game? I just can’t believe we actually won. Maybe this our turning point…
Everyone turned in a good effort tonight, and I really think our PK may end up as the best in the league at the end of the season. They look poised and trapped the furious shots of Lubomir Visnovsky and Sheldon Souray. Marty Gerber made some key saves in the 3rd, even though he should have kept that puck out of the net for the 2nd goal.
Right now I’m pretty estatic that we actually won and from a word from a friend [...]

The Make or Break Game

AUTHOR: Bobby Zijiac | IN: Senators | COMMENTS: None Yet

Oh, the good ol’ days where we would make the playoffs and then get our asses kicked by the Spuds. Those days were better than these days.
I will proclaim tonight, this is the make or break game. This game is the half-way point of the road trip. So far, we have been terrible on this road trip. If we can’t win tonight against the Oilers, then I think it’s pretty much over. They have the Leafs, Devils, Sabres, and Bruins after tonight and I can only expect them to win only 1 or 2 of those games. After this, they [...]

BREAKING NEWS: Sens out of Jay-Bo Sweepstakes, Sens-Jackets Done Deal?

AUTHOR: Bobby Zijiac | IN: Senators | COMMENTS: None Yet

I just got a text from a someone who says Jay Bouwmeester has given the Panthers management a list of teams he would be willing to be traded to. And all I know is that the Ottawa Senators are not on the list. For all of you who are mad at Jay-Bo, it’s not his fault. Why would he want to go to a team that is doing worse than his team? Right now, the focus point of Bryan Murray is to start building up the future, and if he does have a job by the off-season, he will try [...]

Road Bums: Flames 6, Senators 3

AUTHOR: Bobby Zijiac | IN: Senators | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

It looks like that “extra motivation” for Dany Heatley coming into his hometown didn’t motivate him or the team. Goals by Chris Phillips, Jason Spezza, and Alexandre Picard was better than games a month ago when they weren’t able to muster up any goals, but the defensive effort isn’t there anymore.
The losses before this game of their best 2 defenseman, Filip Kuba and Anton Volchenkov really set the tone for this game. Brendan Bell was very uninspired tonight, and I think maybe, just maybe he should go back to Bingo. Christoph Schubert and Brian Lee are imprvoing, but it will [...]

Mike Vermette and Antoine Fisher

AUTHOR: Bobby Zijiac | IN: Senators | COMMENTS: None Yet

Like the title? Probably not. Who cares though? I’m not a really good title-maker like other Sens bloggers are.
The rumor mill is a-churning these days, and I pretty sure Bryan Murray will make a move after this road-trip is over. For many players like Antoine Vermette(knock on wood), Christoph Schubert(maybe he can go play with his fellow German Olaf Kolzig), and Mike Fisher(gasp). Vermette and Schubert have been rumored for many, many days. But Fisher is a new name. Though I am hearing that Craig Hartsburg isn’t impressed with Fisher, and you can’t blame Hartsburg. With the rate he’s going [...]

Stupid Simon: Flyers 6, Senators 4

AUTHOR: Bobby Zijiac | IN: Senators | COMMENTS: None Yet

Man, our offense if finally doing good, and our defense wet their pants. Why does this have to happen to us?
The Flyers dominated the Sens in the first 2 periods, then got their foot of the pedal and the Sens were able to tie it up. And then, mayhem ensues. If you see the reply, the goal Gagne scored is a really lucky one, and it shows there’s a habit Ottawa defenseman need to get rid of. More on that later.
Nick Foligno, Dany Heatley, Dany Heatley, and Chris Phillips scored for the Sens. With 9 goals in 2 games, they’re [...]

Vermette Sweepstakes+Pre-Game Report

AUTHOR: Bobby Zijiac | IN: Senators | COMMENTS: None Yet

First, I’ll start off with some sweepstakes I’m hearing. It’s the Vermette sweepstakes. I’ve been told there are 4 teams that have asked about Vermette. Of course, the first 3 are the Canucks, Panthers and the Blue Jackets. The fourth team is a team from California. Since they’re no way Anaheim or San Jose would want Vermette, it is probably the Kings. It should be interesting how this all unfolds.
For tonight’s game now, Daniel Alfredsson will play tonight, which should be a huge booster for this club(since they never help El Capitano). Dean McAmmond is a game-time decision. Jesse Winchester [...]
