Stupid Simon: Flyers 6, Senators 4

Man, our offense if finally doing good, and our defense wet their pants. Why does this have to happen to us?

The Flyers dominated the Sens in the first 2 periods, then got their foot of the pedal and the Sens were able to tie it up. And then, mayhem ensues. If you see the reply, the goal Gagne scored is a really lucky one, and it shows there’s a habit Ottawa defenseman need to get rid of. More on that later.

Nick Foligno, Dany Heatley, Dany Heatley, and Chris Phillips scored for the Sens. With 9 goals in 2 games, they’re getting back on track. They will face a Flames team on Saturday and it should be a tough game. If our offense continues to score, and our defense can contain the attack, they should do well in Western Canada.

Ok, I’ve been wanting to say this for a long time, and I’ll say it now. Our defensemen need to get out of the way of our goalies. At least 3 of the Flyers’ 5 goals tonight were times when our defenseman where right in front of Alex Auld, so Auld couldn’t see the puck. On the game-winning goal, Jason Smith had his rear end right in front of Auld, therefore not being able to concentrate on the puck. The puck eventually went off his skate, off of Auld’s skate, and in. Just let Auld do his thing. You don’t need to screen him and make him more stressed to find the puck.

So now Sens players will go celebrate Christmas with their families, and head to Western Cannada to continue to embark on their season-long road trip. I have a friend in Edmonton and he will be going to the game on the 30th, and he’ll tell me how the Sens are to watch live.
