Prior to the 2024-25 season, Noah Gregor joined the Ottawa Senators on a one-year contract. Gregor was eager for a fresh start after an up-and-down 2023-24 season with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

In the 2024-25 season, Gregor's tenure in Ottawa was a rough one that ended after playing in 40 games. Then right before the trade deadline concluded, Gregor was traded to the San Jose Sharks this past March in part of the Fabian Zetterlund trade.

Gregor being traded to the Sharks marked his second tenure with the team. However, after the season, the Sharks didn't give a qualifying offer to Gregor and it made him an unrestricted free agent, and there may not be much Gregor could offer now.

Gregor remains unsigned in free agency

Gregor's Sharks tenure after being traded in March by the Senators went rough with recording one assist and a -9 rating in 12 games. Gregor finished the 2024-25 season with recording seven points with a -21 rating in 52 games combined with the Senators and Sharks.

Gregor had two steady seasons with the Sharks from 2021-2023 that the Sharks were hoping would return when he recorded 40 points combined in during those two seasons, but it didn't happen. Gregor went from

Now at 26 years old, Gregor is looking for a new team to join, but he has been unsigned so far. With the Senators signing Lars Eller and Arthur Kaliyev, and re-signing Nick Cousins prior, there's no reason for the Senators to consider giving Gregor a second chance to play on the fourth line.

Gregor recorded just six points during his Senators tenure. At times, Gregor became very unplayable and got little ice time from head coach Travis Green.

Trading away Gregor benefited the Senators because with Zetterlund on the team, the Senators made the 2025 playoffs. Zetterlund also signed a three-year extension to remain a Senator in June, which shows the Senators still believe in him.

General manager Steve Staios trading away a liability was needed for the Senators. Now, Gregor searches for a new team.
