The Ottawa Senators weren't done at the 2025 trade deadline. After acquiring Dylan Cozens from the Buffalo Sabres, the Senators then made a trade with the San Jose Sharks.

The Senators acquired forward Fabian Zetterlund, Tristen Robins and a fourth-round draft pick in exchange for Zack Ostapchuk, Noah Gregor and Ottawa's 2025 second-round draft pick.

Zetterlund has seen his game grow since being traded to the Sharks in 2023. Last season, Zetterlund recorded 48 points. This season on the worst NHL team, Zetterlund has 36 points. For a player that will be on an expiring restricted contract at $1.45 million, Zetterlund has impressed at 25 years old. For Robins, he's only played in only three NHL games at 23 years old.

For the players the Senators traded away, Ostapchuk has only recorded four points in 43 games this season at 21 years old. Gregor has recorded six points in 40 games this season at 26 years old.

The Senators' second-round draft pick this year could come as a risk to trade away, but it's clear that the Senators are going after a serious playoff push in 2025. With the Senators currently having 67 points, the race for the playoffs is only going to get tighter in the Eastern Conference.

Zetterlund will be a solid top-nine or potential top-six forward in the lineup for the Senators. The fact the Senators also got Zetterlund as a restricted free agent after this season, will also help as well.
