At 31 years old, Connor Brown is seeking to win the first Stanley Cup of his hockey career. From 2019-2022, Brown never got the chance to do that when he missed out on the playoffs for three seasons as a member of the Ottawa Senators.

Last season, Brown joined the Edmonton Oilers and reached the 2024 Stanley Cup Finals. However, Brown and the Oilers fell to the Florida Panthers in seven games.

Brown and the Oilers were seeking redemption entering the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. With Brown being an underappreciated player for the Oilers through the first three rounds, Brown and the Oilers made it back to the Stanley Cup Finals with a rematch of last year's Cup Final. However, it's been a major disappointment for Brown.

Brown has been a dud through five games

In Game 1 of the 2025 Stanley Cup Finals, Brown started the series off rough with recording no points and a -2 rating in the Oilers' overtime win. Brown's -2 rating in Game 1 was the lowest among the Oilers roster.

After three games, Brown was still pointless and the Oilers found themselves trailing 2-1 in the series. The Oilers won Game 4 in overtime by a final score of 5-4 to set up a pivotal Game 5 with the series tied 2-2.

Game 5 saw another let down from Brown and the Oilers. The Panthers won 5-2 against Brown and the Oilers at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, to take a 3-2 series lead. Brown recorded no points yet again for the Oilers in the loss.

Through fives games, Brown still remains without a point in the Stanley Cup Finals. Brown has been underperforming big for the Oilers with now facing the brink of elimination.

Game 6 is set for Tuesday night at 8 p.m. ET at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida. If Brown and the Oilers lose, the Panthers will win their second consecutive Stanley Cup. If Brown and the Oilers win, a Game 7 on June 20 in Edmonton will be needed.
