Chris Neil Trade Talk, Chris Phillips’ Longevity, Borowiecki’s Scratch

Here’s another edition of our writer’s favourite pieces from the mid-way point in the week. This edition seems to place an emphasis on Trade Talk with Chris Neil and Chris Phillips talk right in the middle.

Bonk’s Mullet, “Exclusive: Neil was open to being traded” – Joe Boughner

Submission: Josh Chenoweth

Some humour again with Bonk’s Mullet looking at the idea of trading Chris Neil:

Ottawa Citizen “Over The Years, The 212 Teammates of Chris Phillips” – Wayne Scanlan

Submission: Trevor Shackles

A cool short piece from the great Wayne Scanlan, as he lists all 212 players that Chris Phillips has ever played with. If you want to go down memory lane this is the place to go.

More from SenShot

Although we rag on Phillips and his diminishing skills, it’s still cool to see him accomplish something like this, and from what I know he’s one of the classiest guys around. Congrats to Chris.

Ottawa Sun “Borowiecki better on wing than on bench” – Don Brennan

Don Brennan’s piece on Mark Borowiecki has some scratching their heads. I’m a fan of “Boro-Cop” and although I don’t think he should play forward, I like him as a bottom pairing guy.

Ottawa’s log-jam is keeping him out, rightfully so. But he’s more than deserving of a bottom pairing spot.

WTYKY “The Senators Long and Short Season”  -Varada

Submission: Zachary Prenner

A “there’s always next year” style post from WTYKY.

Actually gives some legitimate reasons for optimism (besides the fact that we’re not Maple Leaf fans), so check this out if you’ve already checked out of this season.

NHL NOTES:

The Hockey Writers “Film Review – Hockey Barn: Long Island” Anatoliy Metter

Submission: Eldrinson Vado

For this week’s submission I wanted to go back to a great, yet short film on the New York Islanders arena the Nassau Coliseum. As many of you may know, it is the last season the New York Islanders will be playing at Nassau Coliseum before their move to Brooklyn at the Barclays Centre.

This film by David Wurtlez, a life long Islander fan, reflects on the history and tradition the Nassau Coliseum has brought to the devoted fans of Long Island. Nassau Coliseum is truly one of the last authentic “barns” in the NHL and David does a tremendous job capturing the passion the Nassau Coliseum has provided since its opening in 1972.
