Milan Michalek would like some Timmy Thomas

AUTHOR: Bobby Zijiac | IN: Senators | COMMENTS: None Yet

Words can’t describe the hatred I felt towards tim Thomas after the Boston Bruins won once again 4-3 in the Shootout against the Senators. Even though Thomas sucked horribly on Saturday he was dancing like a crazy maniac when the Bruins won. And let me tell you, all three goals scored by Ottawa were all Tim Thomas’ fault.
Milan Michalek has been amazing this season. Acquired in a package for Dany Heatley, Michalek is serving up to his bill and for sure has more tools than Heatley. He’s fast, a brilliant penalty killer, and defensively responsible. His 13 goals lead the Senators [...]

Mystery Arises

AUTHOR: Bobby Zijiac | IN: Rumors, Senators | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Just a few hours ago the Ottawa Senators announced they have sent down defenseman Brian Lee to the Binghamton Senators. Well, I thought Lee was doing great but hey, Volchenkov’s coming back! Hooray! No, no I am absolutely wrong. After Lee’s demotion, the Sens re-called Erik Karlsson from Binghamton. In sequence of all these events, I drop down dead and startled.
The Swedish Boy Wonder has 11 points in 12 games with the Baby Sens after being demoted after 9 games. For some reasons, though, Bryan Murray has scractched his itchy finger and has told him “You’re back, Heinz!”. Even though [...]

The Injury Ship Has Sailed

AUTHOR: Bobby Zijiac | IN: Senators | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

I’m not going to comment on the officiating last night because of course it was atrocious and it seems too boring to just rant and rant on it. However, 4 players got hurt last night, and even though 3 will play tonight, Chris Neil will be out for 2 weeks with an semi-body injury. Peter Regin got a puck to the face, Alexandre Picard was cross-checked by Andrew Peters (yet no penalty) and Matt Carkner blocked a furious shot from Andy Greene. This is alarming as we have to make sure no more injuries persist. We already have a bunch [...]

Gameday #22: Senators @ Devils

AUTHOR: Bobby Zijiac | IN: Game Days, Senators | COMMENTS: None Yet

In the 2nd game of a 4-game season series, the Ottawa Senators head to Newark to face the Devils, who have been very hot of lately. In the two teams’ first meeting of the season, late penalties caused a Sens meltdown as New Jersey came back to win 3-2. Milan Michalek and Brian Lee had the goals for Ottawa. This time around, the Sens hope to reverse their fortunes. They will, however be short-tuned as injuries will see Pascal Leclaire, Anton Volchenkov, and Mike Fisher out of the game while Alex Kovalev is out for personal reasons. The Sens have [...]

Chance To Shine For Elliott

AUTHOR: Bobby Zijiac | IN: Senators | COMMENTS: None Yet

What a bad time for Pascal Leclaire to not only go down, but to a very freak accident. Leclaire was starting to heat up and really captured the imagination of Sens fans before an awkward bend against the Buffalo Sabres and the erratice puck agains the Washington Capitals mean time out. Yet, I don’t believe Snoopy will be out for that long. He’s got the determination of a fox, so he won’t want to stay out for long. December is packed with games, 17 to be exact and we needed the best from our team to be able to compete [...]

Hockeynomics in Action

AUTHOR: Bobby Zijiac | IN: Rumors, Senators | COMMENTS: None Yet

There are many rumblings out there as of now that the trigger is close to being pulled on a trade that would at least see Cam Barker in an Ottawa Senators jersey. As I said a couple of days ago, this all did make sense. Ottawa has the cap flexibility to make a move and Chicago desperately needs cap leaverage. The reported deal would be Alexandre Picard and Ryan Shannon for Barker, which would make sense. Picard’s 800 K and Shannon’s 700 K make $1.5 mil which is half of Barker’s salary. Otawa has 1.8 mil in cap room so [...]

BREAKING NEWS: Ottawa talking to Chicago

AUTHOR: Bobby Zijiac | IN: Breaking News, Rumors, Senators | COMMENTS: 9 Comments

SenShot has learned that General Manager Bryan Murray has held talks with Chicago Blackhawks General Manager Stan Bowman. It is unknown if the talks mean something but it may be linked to something big. The blackhawks are set to re-sign Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, and Duncan Keith to long-term contracts. This mean they have to move some bodies out if they can get under the slaary cap for next year. Rumors are saying it may be Brent Seabrook or Cam Barker. Soem are even suggestign Patrick Sharp could be on the market. I would believe Cam Barker is on Murray’s [...]
