Time can fly in the world we live in today. With it being 2025, we are a quarter of the way into the 21st century. Since 2000, the Ottawa Senators have had many players play for the franchise.
While some stints from player may have been short, strggling or even OK at best, few players made a strong impact on the franchise since 2000. Some of which helped the Senators be a consistent playoff team from 2000-2008.
On July 28, Bleacher Report named four players to a Mount Rushmore for the Senators' Quarter Century. Those four players consisted of Daniel Alfredsson, Jason Spezza, Erik Karlsson and Wade Redden. However, other former Senators made a different teams' Qurater Century, and it's time to see who made one.
Senators who made a Mount Rushmore of a Quarter Century team on a different NHL team
Even though the Senators' Mount Rushmore of the Quarter Century was revealed on Bleacher Report on July 28, social media posts are still being made on every team's Mount Rushmore. With the posts still happening, it's time to see which former or current Sennators made a team's Mount Rushmore of the Quarter Century.
Three ex-Senators and one current Senator made a Mount Rushmore of the Quarter Century. Those players are Zdeno Chara, Marian Gaborik, Vladimir Tarasenko and Claude Giroux.
Chara made the 2025 Hockey Hall of Fame class this past June. Chara spent four seasons as a Senator and recorded 146 points in 299 games. However, Chara made the Quarter Century Mount Rushmore of the Boston Bruins. Chara recorded 481 points in 1,023 games as a Bruin along with winning the Norris Trophy in 2009 as a member of the team.
Gaborik's Senators tenure was a short one when he recorded seven points in 16 games during the 2017-18 season. However, Gaborik made the Mount Rushmore of the Quarter Century for the Minnesota Wild. In Minnesota, Gaborik recorded 437 points in 502 games. Gaborik revealed big personal news in August that he has been sober for now seven years.
Like Gaborik, Tarasenko had his Senators tenure not last for a whole season. Tarasenko recorded 41 points in 57 games played as a Senator in the 2023-24 season before being traded that season to the Florida Panthers. Tarasenko made the Mount Rushmore of the Quarter Century for the St. Louis Blues. As a Blue, Tarasenko recorded 553 points in 644 games. Tarasenko helped the Blues win their first Stanley Cup in franchise history back in 2019.
Giroux is the only current Senator today that was named to a Mount Rushmore. The upcoming 2025-26 season will be Giroux's fourth in Ottawa. However, Giroux made the Mount Rushmore of the Quarter Century for the Philadelphia Flyers.
Giroux recorded 900 points in 1,000 games as a Flyer. Giroux served as Flyers captain from 2013-2022, and was a major player in the Flyers' run to the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals.
