Big personal news revealed by ex-Senator Marian Gaborik

Czechoslovakian forward Marian Gaborik played for 17 seasons in the NHL. In his career, Gaborik was a dynamic player with recording 815 points in 1,035 games.

During his NHL career, Gaborik played for five different NHL teams. The two teams most fans remember Gaborik played for was the Minnesota Wild and New York Rangers, but Gaborik was part of the Los Angeles Kings' 2014 Stanley Cup championship.

What some might not remember is Gaborik finished his NHL career with the Ottawa Senators after he was traded by the Kings to the Senators in February 2018. Although his Senators tenure was short, Gaborik recently reached a big personal accomplishment.

Gaborik is sober for another year

Yesterday, Gaborik made an Instagram post that got attention in a positive way. Gaborik announced that he is now sober for seven years.

"Today marks 7 years without a drop of alcohol. I'm looking forward to being able to inspire others. Very grateful and we keep goingπŸ’ͺπŸ™Œ," Gaborik's Instagram caption was for the post.

2018 was the last time Gaborik touched alcohol, which was the last year he played in the NHL as a member of the Senators. Gaborik recorded seven points in 16 games during his Senators tenure. Gaborik officially retired in 2021 from the NHL.

In 2002, Gaborik was cited in Minnesota for underage drinking and driving. Now 23 years later in 2025, Gaborik is seven years sober and proving that people can change and can become an inspiration.
