With it being 2025, the world is a quarter century into the 21st century. Since 2000, the Ottawa Senators have had memorable moments.

From winning the 2003 President's Trophy, to making the 2007 Stanley Cup Finals, to 2017's unforgettable run to the Eastern Conference Finals and 2025's playoff appearance after an eight-year drought.

Since 2000, the Senators have had talented players play for the franchise. With it being a quarter into the 21st century, a Mount Rushmore was named for the best Senators so far in, and the four players named isn't a shocker to most hockey fans.

Senators quarter century Mount Rushmore revealed

On July 28, Lyle Richardson of Bleacher Report wrote an article titled "Every NHL Team's Mount Rushmore of the Quarter Century." The four players Richardson named for the Senators were Daniel Alfredsson, Jason Spezza, Erik Karlsson and Wade Redden.

Alfredsson, Spezza and Karlsson on the Mount Rushmore is no surprise. Alfredsson was captain of the Senators for over a decade. Alfredsson leads the Senators all-time with 426 goals, 682 assists and 1,108 points. Alfredsson was captain of the Senators' 2007 Eastern Conference championship roster, and the 2003 President's Trophy team.

Spezza is second in Senators history with 251 goals, 436 assists and 687 points. Like Alfredsson, Spezza was also a Senators captain, and was part of the 2007 Eastern Conference championship roster and 2003 President's Trophy team.

Karlsson on the Mount Rushmore isn't a surprise either. In nine seasons as a Senator from 2009-2018, Karlsson won the Norris Trophy two times and made five All-Star Games. Karlsson recorded 518 points during his Senators tenure. Karlsson was a main reason why the Senators made the 2017 Eastern Conference Finals.

Some people may find Redden named on the Mount Rushmore to be a surprise, but it shouldn't be. Some may have expected Chris Phillips to be named, but Redden is better than Phillips statistically.

Redden recorded 401 points as a Senator to Phillips' 288 points. Redden also recorded 113 more points than Phillips as a Senator while playing in 341 less games. Like Alfredsson and Spezza, Redden was part of the Senators 2007 Eastern Conference championship roster and the 2003 President's Trophy team.

Alfredsson, Spezza, Karlsson and Redden rightfully deserved to be named to the Senators' Quarter Century Mount Rushmore team for their work in Ottawa. All four players contributed big and made accomplishments with the Senators organization.
