Saturday saw the Ottawa Senators suffer a brutal 4-3 loss to the Montreal Canadiens. After a couple of days off, it was back to work against the Boston Bruins.

On Oct. 27, the Senators won the first meeting 7-2 against the Bruins. The second meeting wouldn't have nine combined goals, but saw a thrilling ending that didn't go the Senators' way.

The Bruins defeated the Senators 3-2 in overtime at TD Garden. With the loss, the Senators fell to 6-5-3 overall on the season.

In the first period, the Senators led 1-0 after 20 minutes thanks to a Michael Amadio goal, but it was a period that wasn't very productive. After Amadio's goal 5:42 into the period, the Senators recorded one more shot on goal for the remainder of the period.

The second period was all Bruins, with scoring two goals in the period. Morgan Geekie scored his 10th goal of the season 1:22 into the period, then Sean Kuraly scored with under four minutes remaining in the period. Offensive momentum appeared lost on the Senators' side after Amadio's goal. Then, a late third period breakthrough happened.

Claude Giroux scored to tie the game with 8:08 for the Senators on a shot that somehow was able to beat Joonas Korpisalo. Behind the Senators' defense holding the Bruins to three shots on goal and Giroux's goal, overtime would be needed.

In overtime, both teams had quality chances to score. Then, Ridly Greig was called for a penalty with 42 seconds remaining in overtime. Three seconds later, Geekie was called for a penalty to ruin Boston's powerplay.

When it appeared a shootout would be needed, the Senators couldn't keep the game tied. Pavel Zacha scored with under six seconds remaining in overtime past Linus Ullmark to win it for the Bruins.

Even though the Senators did get one point, another tough loss happened. It was the second consecutive overtime loss the Senators suffered.

The Senators will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on the Philadelphia Flyers. Puck drop is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET at Xfinity Mobile Arena. The Senators won the first meeting against the Flyers 2-1 in Ottawa on Oct. 23.
