On Thursday night, the Senators suffered an awful 7-1 loss their most recent preseason game against the St. Louis Blues. If one positive resulted in the loss, it was Fabian Zetterlund scoring his second goal of the preseason. Leevi Merilainen allowed in six goals in under 37 minutes before getting pulled from the net for Mads Sogaard.
For the Canadiens, they have a 4-1-0 record heading into their final preseason game tonight. The Canadiens haven't played since Tuesday night when they played the Senators in Quebec City, Quebec.
In the Quebec City showdown on Tuesday, the Canadiens destroyed the Senators by earning a 5-0 shutout win at Videotron Centre.
The Senators have been outscored 12-1 in their past two preseason games combined. With one more preseason game tonight, the Senators will be eager to finish preseason with momentum before their season opener on Oct. 9 against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Benchmark International Arena in Tampa.
