SenShot NHL Mock Draft Pick #28 – Calgary Flames

With this pick the Flames got from the Penguins in the Jarome Iginla deal, the Flames will get their third pick of the first round.  There is still lots of talent available on the board and they will have plenty of directions to go.

TEAM STRENGTHS:  there are really none to speak of, this is a team that should have started to rebuild much sooner

TEAM WEAKNESSES:  goaltending, scoring, depth

HOCKEY’S FUTURE ORGANIZATIONAL PROSPECT RANK20th of 30 teams

UNDER CONSIDERATION:  Laurent Dauphin,  Morgan Klimchuk, Mirco Mueller, Curtis Lazar, Jacob de la Rose

FANSIDED MOCK DRAFT PICK:  Flame for Though selected Anthony Duclair

SENSHOT’S CHOICE:   Mirco Mueller from the Everett Silvertips of the WHL.  Having taken a couple of highly skilled centres earlier in the draft, the Flames need to take a defenseman, and Mueller is a great choice.  When he fully develops he will have more than the current 175 lbs on his 6’3 frame, and he has the defensive awareness and the offensive upside to make him a strong 2 way threat in the future.  He is still steadily improving and will continue to do so, but might be 3 years away from regular NHL action. Patience will be a key with Mueller.
