Drake Batherson and Tyler Kleven are two important core players on the Ottawa Senators roster. Both Batherson and Kleven each had career years in 2024-25.

Batherson recorded career highs with 68 points and 42 assists while Kleven recorded 10 points, but made his presence known defensively. However, both of them are sidelined ahead of Monday's deadline to finalize the roster.

Today, the Senators finalized their roster with loaning players to the AHL for the Belleville Senators. For Batherson and Kleven, they both landed on IR ahead of the Ottawa's season opener on Thursday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Benchmark International Arena.

On Sept. 24, head coach Travis Green gave an injury update on both players. Batherson had a pulled muscle injury while Kleven appeared to be shaken up in the Senators' preseason game on Sept. 23 against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Not having Kleven and Batherson can hurt the lineup. However, it's now next man up on offensse and defense.
