The Ottawa Senators are two games into their 2025 preseason. Both games have resulted in a one-goal games against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Senators lost their first preseason game on Sunday, but rebounded last night for a comeback overtime win.
However, injuries are rattling the Senators two games into the preseason. Now, a new update was provided from head coach Travis Green on the status on four of his players.
Green provides update on four players
Following their preseason game last night in Toronto, the Senators held a practice today back in Ottawa. After practice, Green provided an update on Nick Jensen, Lars Eller, Tyler Kleven and Drake Batherson.
Jensen is making progress on getting closer to returning. Jensen had off-season hip surgery in May. Eller is closer to joining the main group with his abs being a concern.
Kleven appeared to have been shaken up in last night's game. However, Kleven could resume skating as early as tomorrow with dealing with a lower-body injury. It's Batherson that received a big update.
Batherson is dealing with an upper-body injury after pulling a muscle. With pulling a muscle, Batherson will be out for about two weeks.
In 15 days, the Senators' 2025-26 regular season opener will start against the Tampa Bay Lightning. If Batherson is not ready to return, it will be a loss in the lineup for offense.
In the mean time, the Senators will have to move forward with the injuries at the moment. The Senators won't play another preseason game on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. ET when they play the New Jersey Devils at Videotron in Quebec City, Quebec.
