Since being drafted third overall in the 2020 NHL Draft, Tim Stutzle has made an immediate impact on the Ottawa Senators. Stutzle's career 308 points is the most among any player from the 2020 draft.
Since the 2022-23 season, Stutzle has become one of the fastest rising players in the NHL. Stutzle has recorded one 90-point season and one 70-point season.
This season, Stutzle is at it again with leading the Senators with 61 points and 42 assists. Stutzle's offensive production has helped the Senators out big time. Now, Stutzle has a chance to make Senators history, and it could potentially happen in tomorrow's game against the Washington Capitals.
Stutzle needs to record one assist in his next game to make Senators history
In the Senators' 5-3 win against the San Jose Sharks last night, extended his point streak to 11 games after recording two points. But, Stutzle's assist on Brady Tkachuk's goal helped him continue his chase in Senators history.
Stutzle's assist helped him extend his assist streak to 10 games, which tied the Senators franchise record. Sergei Gonchar did it in the 2012-13 season and Mark Stone did it in the 2017-18 season. If Stutzle records an assist in the next game he plays, it would help him break the record for most consecutive games with an assist.
Stutzle has already broken an impressive record in Senators history in November. When Stutzle scored a goal in the Senators' 3-0 win against the Seattle Kraken on Nov. 2, Stutzle set a new record for the most goals scored before turning 23 years old in Senators history. Now, another Senators record is in site for Stutzle to break.
The Senators have played the Capitals twice already this season. Stutzle went pointless in the first game against the Capitals this season, but recorded an assist in the second meeting.
Breaking another Senators record at 23 years old will continue to show just how talented and important Stutzle is to the Senators. Going forward this season, Stutzle will be heavily relied on by the Senators for the team to make a playoff push in 2025. The Senators currently sit two points behind the Detroit Red Wings for the second Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
