The Ottawa Senators will be without both Warren Foegele and Andre Burakovsky for the next three to four weeks after they suffered injuries this past week on their West Coast trip.

Senators' head coach Travis Green announced this prior to their game against the San Jose Sharks, when he also told reporters that Philip Tomasino and Xavier Bourgault will draw into the lineup. Unfortunately, for the Senators, the injury bug continues to bite them early on this season.

Injury-ridden Senators can't catch a break

It's been a season-long issue for the Senators; they get players back to full health and then they lose a few more players and have to pivot to fill the holes. Luckily, they've done a good job at that this season. But with Foegele and Burakovsky out for three to four weeks, they will likely have a few opportunities for players from the AHL to fill in.

For Foegele, he suffered an injury against the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday when he fell victim to a knee-on-knee hit. He left the game and had to get help from his teammates to leave the ice. The Senators announced that he was out with a lower-body injury, and now we know the timeline. Foegele was one of the players on the roster that started the season injured; he returned to the lineup and was finding his groove before getting hurt again.

As for Burakovsky, he left the game against the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday, in the game that saw the team battle back from a 5-1 deficit and lose in overtime. He took a number of hits in the corner of the offensive zone and didn't return to the game. After the game, Green said that he had suffered a lower-body injury, and now, much like Foegele, we know the timeline for his return. It is unfortunate for Burakovsky because he hasn't yet found his footing with his new club, and now he will need to take more time to adjust when he returns from his injury.

It's been a hard season for the Senators as they continue to deal with injuries. The good thing is, they have a number of players in the AHL that can make the jump to the NHL level if they are called up.
