This past Monday was the Ottawa Senators' first home game of the 2025-26 season, but it resulted with a tough loss. Now, it's back on the road for the third time in four games to start the season.

A road game awaits against the Buffalo Sabres. Despite being in a 14-year playoff drought, the Sabres have had success against the Senators, but the Senators hope the luck can change with it being a new season.

Senators face Sabres in Buffalo

The Senators travel to KeyBank Center for a clash against the Sabres. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.

Two days ago, the Senators fell 4-1 in their home opener against the Nashville Predators. The Senators were able to make it a one-goal game with just over two minutes in regulation after a powerplay goal scored by Ridly Greig, but Nashville scored two empty-net goals to ice the game.

The Senators will be excited to get Drake Batherson back in the lineup after missing the first three games to start the season, but Monday's loss to Nashville had even a worse loss. Captain Brady Tkachuk suffered an injury after being cross-checked by Predators defenseman Roman Josi.

The Senators won't have Tkachuk in the lineup starting tonight with him being out of the lineup for a significant amount of time. Tkachuk missing a significant amount of time was confirmed yesterday. Not having the captain in the lineup can put some question early into the season.

As for the Sabres, they have lost their first three games to start the season. Ex-Senator Josh Norris won't have the chance to play against his former team again after suffering an injury in the Sabres' season opener this past Thursday. Through three games, the Sabres have scored just two goals.

Last season, the Sabres dominated the Senators by sweeping the four-game season series. It was the first time in 31 years that the Sabres swept a season series against the Senators.
