Four home consecutive home games were recently played by the Ottawa Senators. Overall, the Senators went 2-1-1 on their four-game home stand. Now, it's back on the road for one game in a clash against the Washington Capitals.

For being the 2025 Metropolitan Division champions, the Senators fared well against the Capitals last season. With a tough start through eight gamess this season, the Senators now hope for their solid play against the Capitals to continue in another season.

Sens play Caps in D.C.

The Senators travel to Capital One Arena to take on the Capitals. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.

After losing three of their first five games, the Senators have been better with earning three points over the past two games. The Senators earned one point in their 3-2 overtime loss to the Edmonton Oilers this past Tuesday, and earned a 2-1 win this past Thursday against the Philadelphia Flyers.

In the Senators' win against the Flyers, Michael Amadio and Olle Lycksell each scored their first goal of the season. Lycksell's goal was his first as a Senator in his fourth game with the team, and it was his first career game-winning goal. For Lycksell to score his first career game-winning goal against his old team made Thursday's win more sweeter.

For the Capitals, they are hot to start the season with having a 6-2-0 overall record. The Capitals enter tonight having won six of their last seven games with the most recent being a 5-1 road win last night against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Tom Wilson leads the Capitals with 11 points and five goals. Dylan Strome is second on the Capitals in points with 10. Ex-Senator Jakob Chychrun has the highest +/- rating on the Capitals with a +8 rating . Alex Ovechkin is scheduled to play in his 1,500th career NHL game tonight, and is one goal away from recording his 900th career goal.

Last season, the Capitals won two of the three games against the Senators. All three games between the two teams went into at least overtime. The Senators earned one loss in overtime and a shootout. The one win the Senators earned was behind a Thomas Chabot overtime winner on his birthday.

Lars Eller will also get the chance to play against his former team after playing in 63 games with the Capitals last season. Last season was Eller's second stint as a Capital after he was traded to Washington from the Pittsburgh Penguins.
