After Tuesday night's awful 5-0 shutout loss to the New York Rangers in New York City, the Ottawa Senators headed to Beantown to take on the Boston Bruins for the second time in five days.
The Senators had defeated the Bruins in the two previous meetings of the season, the most recent being a 6-5 shootout win in Ottawa this past Saturday, but there would be no repeat performance from Saturday.
The third time was the charm for the Bruins as they shutout the Senators 2-0 at TD Garden to drop the Senators to 24-20-4 on the season.
For the second consecutive game and the fifth time already in 2025, the Senators have been shutout. The Senators have now gone 137:10 without scoring a goal.
Anton Forsberg would get the start against the Bruins and stood tall. With stopping 24 of 25 shots on goal against the Bruins, Forsberg has now allowed in one goal in back-to-back starts. A good two-game stretch of starts after allowing in at least three goals in eight consecutive starts prior.
In his first start against his old team, Joonas Korpisalo recorded a 30-save shutout to record his third shutout of the season. Korpisalo and the Bruins defense stood tall by killing off all four powerplay chances in the game for the Senators. In the third period, the Senators had a two-man advantage, but couldn't score.
Morgan Geekie scored the game-winning goal just 2:06 into the second period and David Pastrnak scored an empty-net goal with under five seconds left to play to ice the game. Over the past two games against the Senators, Geekie and Pastrnak each scored a goal.
The Senators will return to action this weekend when they start up their fourth back-to-back of 2025. The Senators host the Toronto Maple Leafs for the first time this season in the Battle of Ontario. On Nov. 12 in Toronto in the first meeting, the Senators earned a 3-0 shutout win.
