Senators meet Rangers for first time in over 2.5 months

Confidence continues to be riding high for the Ottawa Senators. After defeating the Boston Bruins and New Jersey Devils on a back-to-back this past weekend, the Senators now have a 24-18-4 record.

The Senators now continue their three-game road trip against the New York Rangers, a team that is chasing them in the Eastern Conference standings at the moment.

Senators meet Rangers in NYC

The Senators travel to Madison Square Garden to clash with the Rangers for the second time this season. Puck drop for tonight's game is at 7 p.m. ET.

In the Senators' last game on Sunday afternoon against the Devils, the Senators earned a big 2-1 win on the road. Both Zack Ostapchuk and Artem Zub each scored a pivotal goal in the win. Ostapchuk scored his first NHL goal and Zub scored his first game-winning goal since April 2021. Anton Forsberg made 25 saves to snap his cold stretch of losing his past five starts.

As for the Rangers, they come into tonight's game with a 22-20-4 record. The Rangers have earned points in their last seven games by going 4-0-3. The Rangers fell 5-4 in overtime on Sunday night in their last game to the Montreal Canadiens. The overtime loss put the Rangers at four points behind the Senators in the standings.

Artemi Panarin leads the Rangers with 19 goals and 48 points. Adam Fox's 34 of his 36 points this season are assists.

In the first meeting this season, the Rangers defeated the Senators 2-1 on Nov. 1 in New York City. Even in defeat, Hall of Fame goaltender and Rangers legend Henrik Lundqvist gave the Senators high praise for how much intensity the Senators played against the Rangers.

Igor Shesterkin made 40 saves against the Senators to help give the Rangers the win. Adam Gaudette scored the lone goal for the Senators in the loss.
