Senators head to Sin City to take on Golden Knights
On Tuesday night, the Ottawa Senators began their three-game West Coast road trip against the Utah Hockey Club in Salt Lake City. The Senators shutout the Hockey Club 4-0 to improve to 4-2-0 on the season.
Following a win in Utah, the Senators now head farther out West to Las Vegas and meet the Vegas Golden Knights. Since the Golden Knights' existence, the Senators have been owned by the Golden Knights with a record of 2-9-1 record.
Senators play their second consecutive road game against Golden Knights
The Senators travel to T-Mobile Arena to play the Golden Knights with puck drop at 6 p.m. ET. To go with the horrible all-time record against the Golden Knights, the Senators have lost their last five games in Vegas.
Even with losing the past five games in Vegas, confidence is riding high for the Senators after recording a four-goal first period on Tuesday in Utah. Drake Batherson, Claude Giroux, Ridly Greig and Brady Tkachuk scored the goals in the game, and Nick Jensen recorded two assists.
Tkachuk has been hot to start the season for Ottawa with recording one point in every game, and Giroux is starting to heat up after his slow start to the season.
For Michael Amadio, today's game will be an emotional one with returning to Vegas after spending the past three seasons with the Golden Knights. The Senators need Amadio to start producing offense, and there's no better time than today against his former team.
As for the Golden Knights, they have a 4-2-1 record and are currently in third place in the Pacific Division. The Golden Knights won their last game on Tuesday night 6-1 against the Los Angeles Kings. Ex-Senator Mark Stone leads the Golden Knights with 12 points and is tied with Jack Eichel for the most assists on the team with nine. Ivan Barbashev leads the Golden Knights with five goals.
T-Mobile Arena has always been a tough environment to play in, and the Senators have struggled in the arena deeply. Although the struggles at T-Mobile Arena, the Senators became the first team to win a road game in Utah in an already one tough environment. With a road win in Utah, the Senators proved they can win in tough environments, and they will have to do the same again today.
The Senators got help yesterday with the Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning all losing their games in regulation to move into second place in the Atlantic Division. A win today keeps the Senators in second with one point behind the Florida Panthers with two less games played.
