Positive vibes are running throughout the Ottawa Senators right now. After their 3-2 overtime win on Saturday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Senators not only have won three consecutive games for the first time this season, but have the second Wild Card spot with a 15-13-2 record (32 points) in the Eastern Conference.
However, the grind is about to get hard for the Senators as they face the Seattle Kraken for the second time this season. With the long trip to Emerald City, the task of making or breaking the season now awaits the Senators.
Senators start nine-game road trip against Kraken
The Senators travel to Climate Pledge Arena to take on the Seattle Kraken at 10 p.m. ET to begin their crucial nine-game road trip.
In the Senators' last game on Saturday, Brady Tkachuk showed why he's the Senators captain by scoring the game-winning goal in overtime. Linus Ullmark improved to 6-0-1 to continue his hot stretch.
As for the Kraken, they come into tonight's game sixth place in the Pacific Division with a 15-15-2 record. The Kraken lost their last game 5-1 at home on Saturday to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Jared McCann leads the Kraken with 26 points and is tied for the most goals on the team with 11 along with Oliver Bjorkstrand. Chandler Stephenson leads the Kraken with 18 assists.
The Senators and Kraken played each other on Nov. 2 in Ottawa. The Senators earned a 3-0 win behind a 22-save shutout by Anton Forsberg. Tim Stutzle broke the Senators all-time record for most goals in Senators history before turning 23 years old in the win as well.
With now being on the road for nine games, the fate of the Senators season is crucial for the road trip. With currently in the second Wild Card spot, and the Eastern Conference standings tight, each game on the road trip is just as important as the next one for the Senators
With the Senators already having one win against the Kraken this season, and having a 5-1-1 record in December, it adds more to sweep the season series and stay in a Wild Card spot.
