Senators continue nine-game road trip against Flames in Calgary

After their second consecutive 3-0 win against the Seattle Kraken this season on Tuesday night, the Ottawa Senators have now won four consecutive games for the first time this season.

The Senators starting off their crucial nine-game road trip with a win was important to improve to 16-13-2 on the season, and remain in the second Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. Now, the Senators continue their road trip against the Calgary Flames in Calgary, and are eager to sweep another two-game season series.

Senators play Flames in Calgary in second game of road trip

The Senators travel to Scotiabank Saddledome to take on the Flames at 9 p.m. ET. On Nov. 25, the Senators defeated the Flames 4-3 in the first meeting in Ottawa on Nov. 25.

Tuesday night against the Kraken marked an important win for the Senators. Linus Ullmark recorded a 30-save shutout to improve to 7-0-1 in his last eight starts. Shane Pinto and Noah Gregor helped the Senators set the tone by scoring in the second period. Tim Stutzle would go on to add an early insurance goal in the third period.

As for the Flames, they come into tonight's game in the second Wild Card spot in the Western Conference with a 15-11-6 record. Despite being in the second Wild Card spot, the Flames are 3-5-3 in their last 11 games. The Flames' most recent game was a 4-3 loss at home on Tuesday against the Boston Bruins. The Flames were up 3-1 heading into the third period, but proceeded to lose the game in overtime.

Jonathan Huberdeau leads the Flames with 22 points and Nazem Kadri leads the Flames with 12 goals.

When the Senators defeated the Flames on Nov. 25, Drake Batherson and Brady Tkachuk each recorded a goal and an assist. Ridly Greig and Jake Sanderson each recorded two assists.

Both the Senators and Flames hold the second Wild Card in their conferences. With the standings in both conferences already tight before Christmas, both teams are eager for a win to remain in the top eight in their conference.
