On Thursday night, the Ottawa Senators kicked off a four-game home stand after playing three of their first four games on the road. Today, the second afternoon game of the season awaits against the New York Islanders.

Last season, the Senators struggled against the Islanders with losing two of the three meetings, but a new season offers as a new opportunity to reverse the roles.

Sens host Isles in afternoon clash

The Senators host the Islanders at Canadian Tire Centre with a 3 p.m. ET puck drop.

In the Senators' last game against the Seattle Kraken on Thursday night, the team completed a comeback win in a shootout by a final of 4-3. Shane Pinto remained hot with scoring his sixth goal of the season, and winning the game in the shootout for the Senators. Dylan Cozens scored a pivotal goal with 1:46 remaining to tie the game at three, and Linus Ullmark was strong with making 30 saves to earn his second win of the season.

For the Islanders, they have a 1-3-0 overall record after four games heading into today's game. The Islanders lost their first three games of the season before earning a 4-2 win on Thursday night in their last game against the Edmonton Oilers.

Bo Horvat leads the Islanders with three goals and five points, and Matthew Shaefer, the first overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, is second on the Islanders with four points.

Both of the games the Islanders won against the Senators last season were in Ottawa. The Islanders earned win in November and December of 2024. The one win the Senators had was on Long Island in January 2025 behind a Leevi Merilainen shutout.
