Yesterday, the Ottawa Senators began their first back-to-back of the 2025-26 season with a brutal 8-4 loss to the Buffalo Sabres to drop their third consecutive game. It was a quick road trip back to Ottawa to begin a four-game home stand.

The Senators awaited the Seattle Kraken in the first meeting of the season eager to build off of last season's season series sweep. In a new season, a much needed comeback win was earned against the Kraken.

The Senators defeated the Kraken 4-3 in a shootout at Canadian Tire Centre to snap their three-game losing streak. With the win, the Senators improved to 2-3-0 on the season.

For the fifth consecutive game, the Senators trailed to start the game when Shane Wright scored 4:57 into the game for the Kraken. After Wright's goal, Shane Pinto and David Perron each scored a goal in a span of 1:53 to give the Senators a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission. Pinto's goal was his sixth of the season. In the second period, Chandler Stephenson scored the only goal of the period to tie the game 2-2 after 40 minutes.

Doubt was early in the third period for the Senators when Stephenson scored his second goal of the game on a powerplay 2:15 into the period. The Senators offense was lacking to tie the game until the final minutes. Then, clutch happened.

With 1:46 remaining in regulation, Dylan Cozens tied the game 3-3 to help force overtime. In overtime, Linus Ullmark was sharp with stopping all five shots on goal he faced from the Kraken. In the final seconds, Jake Sanderson hit iron which then led to a shootout needing to determine a winner.

In the second round of the shootout, Tim Stutzle scored to put the Senators up first. Then with a chance to win it in the third round, Pinto scored the game winner in the shootout to complete the comeback win.

Claude Giroux was solid with recording a two-assist game, and new Senators Jordan Spence and Lars Eller each recorded one assist in the win to make their impact felt again for their new team.

The Senators will return to action Saturday afternoon when they host the New York Islanders. Puck drop is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET. Last season, the Islanders won two of the three games against the Senators with both of the wins occurring in Ottawa.

The Islanders are 1-3-0 heading into Ottawa after defeating the Edmonton Oilers tonight 4-2 for their first win of the season.
