After a 3-2 overtime win last Saturday against the Philadelphia Flyers, the Ottawa Senators have played their past three games at home. Tonight, the fourth and final game of their home stand before their seven-game road trip awaits against the Los Angeles Kings.
Like the Senators, the Kings are battling for early playoff positioning in their respective divisions. Each team will be eager to get two critical points in a mid-November showdown in Ottawa.
Sens host Kings to conclude four-game home stand
The Senators host the Kings at Canadian Tire Centre with puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
Thursday night's 5-3 win against the Boston Bruins was the Senators' last game played. Tim Stutzle scored two late third period goals to finish the game with three points to help the Senators earn a pivotal win.
Claude Giroux and Dylan Cozens each scored one goal and recorded an assist. Leevi Merilainen won his third consecutive start by making 18 saves.
Like the Senators, the Kings have a 9-5-4 overall record on the season. The Kings have won four of their last five games heading into tonight, with Thursday's 4-3 overtime win against the Toronto Maple Leafs on the road being the most recent. The Kings currently sit in second place in the Pacific Division.
Arian Kempe leads the Kings with 19 points and 13 assists. Kevin Fiala leads the Kings with nine goals. At 40 years old, Corey Perry has fit in well with the Kings with recording 11 points in 12 games. With him retiring at the end of the season, tonight is Anze Kopitar's final scheduled game against the Senators in Ottawa.
Last season, the Senators and Kings each earned one win against each other. The Senators won the first meeting 8-7 in overtime in a wacky game in Ottawa in October 2024. The Kings won the second meeting 5-2 in Los Angeles the next month.
Tonight's game will add some heat to it with defenseman Jordan Spence facing his former team. The Kings traded Spence away to the Senators this past offseason after having a career year.
