After a 4-3 win on Wednesday to the San Jose Sharks, and a 5-2 loss last night against the Los Angeles Kings, the Ottawa Senators are now closing their three-game California road trip against the Anaheim Ducks.
Before the Senators head back home to Ottawa for four games, an important game in Anaheim awaits. If the Senators are going to get momentum before heading home, tonight's game in Anaheim adds more pressure.
Senators play Ducks to close out California road trip
The Senators travel to Honda Center to take on the Ducks in the first meeting this season. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
Last night in Los Angeles, the Senators had an awful third period in their 5-2 loss to the Kings to fall to 10-12-1 on the season. The Senators allowed in three goals in the third period after the game was tied at two heading into the second intermission.
Despite the loss, the Senators' top line of Adam Gaudette, Tim Stutzle and Brady Tkachuk remained hot. Gaudette scored his fourth goal in three games to now have 12 goals this season, which is tied for a career-high and leads the Senators this season.
Stutzle also scored his 10th goal of the season. Both Stutzle and Tkachuk have five points each over the past three games since head coach Travis Green made the line change of putting Gaudette on the top line.
As for the Ducks, they enter tonight's game in last place in the Pacific Division with a 9-10-3 record. The Ducks have lost three of their last four games with their most recent being a 2-1 home loss on Friday against the Kings.
The Ducks don't have one 20-point scorer on their team through 22 games this season. Troy Terry leads the Ducks in assists with 10 and points with 16. Terry is tied with Leo Carlsson for the most goals on the Ducks with six.
With having 21 points and being in second to last place in the Eastern Conference, the Senators season is close to getting worse. A win in Anaheim is needed very much before heading home for four games where momentum can be gained back up.
