For the first three games of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Ottawa Senators appeared dead in the water with trailing their first round series 0-3 against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Now, momentum is back on Ottawa's side.
After winning Game 4 in overtime, the Senators needed a win in Game 5 to keep their season alive in Toronto, and they delivered two nights ago. Now, the series returns to Canada's capital with high stakes.
Sens-Leafs get ready for Game 6
The Senators host the Maple Leafs for Game 6 of their series against the Maple Leafs at Canadian Tire Centre. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
On Tuesday night, it was domination by the Senators as they defeated the Maple Leafs 4-0 in Game 5. The win was highlighted by Linus Ullmark recording his first career playoff shutout. When the Senators needed Ullmark more than ever, he delivered the best game of his Senators tenure with a 27-save shutout in an elimination game.
Thomas Chabot's first career playoff goal would turn out to be the game-winning goal in the game. Dylan Cozens scored a pivotal shorthanded goal in the third period to extend the Senators' lead to 2-0. Tim Stutzle and Brady Tkachuk each record a three-point game and scored each an empty-net goal to ice the game in the final minutes.
Tkachuk predicted that the Senators would return home for a Game 6. After Game 4's win, Tkachuk's lips read "we're coming back here" while pointing to the Canadian Tire Centre ice. Tkachuk's words turned out to be true with now a Game 6 being played tonight. After winning Game 5, Tkachuk said he expects the atmosphere to be "pure insanity."
It will be simple yet again for the Senators. The Senators must win to keep their season alive and force a Game 7 back in Toronto on Saturday. If the Senators lose, their season will be over at home against their most hated rival.
