Recent success against Blues offers Michael Amadio to once again start getting hot
One free agent signing that hasn't gone well at all for the Ottawa Senators is signing Michael Amadio. Ottawa and Amadio agreed on a three-year contract at $2.6 million per year until 2027 when the 2024 free agency started.
Eight games into the 2024-25 season, Amadio's tenure in Ottawa has been a disaster. Amadio is pointless while playing in every game, and his -6 rating is the worst on Ottawa's roster. In five of Ottawa's eight games, Amadio has recorded a negative rating, and has recorded a -2 rating in two games this season.
If the Senators are going to get out of last place in the Atlantic Division with a current 4-4-0 record, Amadio needs to be better. Tomorrow's game against the St. Louis Blues offers yet another chance for Amadio to start getting consistency with his offense.
Amadio's recent success against Blues offers another chance for him to get hot
For the first five seasons of his career, Amadio played the Blues five times and went pointless in every game. However, since the 2022-23 season, Amadio has dominated against the Blues when he was a member of the Vegas Golden Knights.
Over the past two seasons, Amadio has recorded six points in five games against the Blues. Four of Amadio's six points have been goals, and Amadio has scored in four of the five games played against the Blues. One of the games came on Dec. 23, 2022, when Amadio scored a goal and added two assists.
Last season against the Blues, Amadio scored in two of the three games played. Amadio desperately needs to start gaining offensive confidence and consistency, and the Blues offer a great chance for Amadio to do so.
Amadio had a chance to start gaining confidence this past Friday when he returned to Vegas, but he went pointless. Amadio also had a great chance to start heating up in the third game of the season due to his recent success against the Los Angeles Kings, but he went pointless.
Amadio needs to start proving the doubters wrong with his slow start in Ottawa. With recent success against the Blues, tomorrow offers yet another perfect opprtunity for Amadio to start getting offensive production. The Senators host the Blues tomorrow at Canadian Tire Centre with puck drop at 7 p.m. ET.
