The Ottawa Senators were looking to add depth to their roster this past free agency. To add depth, the team signed forward Michael Amadio.

The Senators and Amadio were familiar with one another prior to the signing. Late in the 2020-21 season, Amadio was traded to the Senators by the Los Angeles Kings. Amadio only played five games for the Senators in 2021, and joined the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2021 free agency. Amadio had his Maple Leafs tenure end after playing three games in the 2021-22 season as he was waived in October 2021. The Golden Knights signed Amadio after being waived.

In Vegas, Amadio was a key role player for the past two seasons. Amadio played a key role on the Golden Knights' 2023 Stanley Cup championship team. When Amadio signed with the Senators, he brought his championship pedigree with him. In the Senators' third game this season, today is a perfect opportunity for Amadio to get going.

Amadio's success against Kings gives him chance to start heating up in Senators' third game of season

The Senators host the Kings today at 1 p.m. at Canadian Tire Centre. It's the first of three games at home and it offers the Senators to establish themselves as a top team in the Atlantic Division early in October. The Senators have a 1-1-0 record through the first two games. One Senators player the team needs to start getting production out of is Amadio.

Amadio is pointless two games into the season. Amadio recorded a +1 rating in the season opener, and got more ice time in the Senators' most recent game. Amadio recorded two shots on goal in the 4-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens. For today's game, it offers the perfect chance for Amadio to get hot.

Amadio began playing for the Kings in the 2017-18 season before getting traded in 2021. When Amadio played in Vegas, he played well against Los Angeles.

In nine career games against the Kings, Amadio has recorded one goal in four different games, but last season was his best season against the Kings. Vegas and Los Angeles played each other three times last season, and Amadio scored in two of the three games.

The Senators have only scored four goals in the first two games of the season. Tim Stutzle has scored three of the four goals, so the Senators need other players to score. With his success against the Kings last season, today offers a chance for Amadio to thrive against his old team again. If Amadio gets going early, he's more than capable of making the Senators a deeper team.
