Prior to the 2024-25 season, 28-year-old Adam Gaudette was in need to save his hockey career after playing in just two games with the St. Louis Blues last season. Prior to last season, Gaudette had not played an NHL game since the 2021-22 season.

Gaudette joined the Ottawa Senators this season on a one-year contract. It was Gaudette's second Senators tenure. In 2024, Gaudette showed signs of promise by scoring 13 goals from October-December for the Senators.

In November, Gaudette scored eight goals alone. Four of Gaudette's goals in November came in the final three games of the month. Gaudette became one of Ottawa's most relied on goal scorers, but his game took a hit since 2025 began.

Gaudette needs to bounce back in April for Ottawa's playoff push

While Gaudette's 16 goals this season are a new career-high for a single season, his play in 2025 has dropped significantly for the Senators.

Since 2025 began, Gaudette has only scored three goals and has recorded six points. Gaudette's offensive production has taken a big hit in Ottawa's lineup.

At the moment, Gaudette is on a 20-game goal drought. Despite the Senators going 10-3-2 in March, Gaudette recorded just one assist while playing in all 15 games for the entire month.

With struggling to produce offense, Gaudette's ice time has took a hit in March as well. In 12 of the 15 games of the month, Gaudette played less than 10 minutes of ice time. Last game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday, Gaudette's ice time of 5:58 was the lowest of the month and his lowest ice time since Jan. 25.

Both David Perron and Michael Amadio both raised their offensive game in March with Gaudette struggling. However, the Senators will need Gaudette to be at full force to be a stronger team in April for their playoff push.

Today's game at 7 p.m. ET at home against the Buffalo Sabres offers another chance for Gaudette to get back to his old self from earlier this season.
