The Ottawa Senators had a quick turnaround after Monday's 2-1 win at home against the Detroit Red Wings. The Senators concluded a back-to-back against the Philadelphia Flyers in the City of Brotherly Love.

In the first meeting against the Flyers on Nov. 14, the Senators led 4-2 third period lead to then end up losing 5-4 in overtime. While the score was 4-2 at one point in the third period in the second meeting, there was no collapse this time.

The Senators defeated the Flyers 5-2 at Wells Fargo Center. With the win, the Senators have earned now earned 11 out of a possible 12 points in March, improved to 34-25-5 on the season, and also have a three-point lead on the Columbus Blue Jackets for the first Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.

With the back-to-back, it led to Anton Forsberg getting the start in goal. Forsberg gave the Senators a solid game in goal by making 20 saves to earn the win.

In the first period, Brady Tkachuk reached three milestones with scoring the opening goal just 24 seconds into the game. Tkachuk recorded his 400th career point, moved into fourth place all-time in Senators history in goals with 189, and also moved into sixth place on the all-time for most points in Senators history with 400.

In the second period, each team scored two goals. The Senators got a surprising goal from Tyler Kleven and Michael Amadio. Kleven's goal was his third goal of the season and his first since Jan. 11. For Amadio, it was his second goal scored over a three-game span.

In the third period, Dylan Cozens made yet another impact. With the Senators protecting a 3-2 in the third period, Cozens scored a huge insurance goal with 9:01 remaining in regulation to extend the Senators lead to 4-2.

In three games as a Senator since being traded over by the Buffalo Sabres, Cozens has recorded three points. Cozens' goal helped him earn his 200th career NHL point. Shane Pinto would add an empty-net goal to make it 5-2 at the end.

Jake Sanderson and Amadio each recorded a two-point night. The biggest play of the game came from Matthew Highmore to keep the Senators in front. With the Senators leading 3-2 in the third period, Sean Couturier had a wide open net to beat Forsberg, but Highmore made a stick save to keep the Senators in front.

The Senators will return on action on Thursday night when they host the Boston Bruins at Canadian Tire Centre at 7 p.m. ET. In three meeting against the Bruins this season, the Senators are 2-1-0. In the last game against the Bruins, they fell 2-0 on Jan. 23 in Boston.
