This past free agency, the Ottawa Senators signed two former Stanley Cup champions to bring experience and championship pedigree to the locker room, Michael Amadio and David Perron.

However, both of them have missed time this season. After playing in the first five games of the season, Perron had to take time away due to his daughter's health scares, which caused him to miss 11 games. Then, Perron returned to the lineup for the next five games, but has been out of the lineup since the Calgary Flames game on Nov. 25 due to an upper body injury.

For Amadio, he has been out of the lineup since Dec. 22. On Dec. 21 against the Vancouver Canucks, Amadio sustained a concussion. While both of them have been out of the lineup for some time, the Senators are getting good news about them with the most recent practice.

Today, both Amadio and Perron each skated again prior to the Senators full team practice. Both of them would also stay on the ice to warmup Anton Forsberg and Leevi Merilainen when they came out. Perron would leave before practice started, but Amadio skated with the team.

Although the Amadio and Perron have had their struggles this season, they make the Senators a stronger team with their experience and physicality.

This season, Perron has recorded no points in nine games played to begin his Senators tenure; Amadio has 10 points this season in 33 games played. In 10 games in December, Amadio recorded six assists to start heating up before his concussion.

The Senators need their former Stanley Cup champions to return to the team as soon as possible. With today's practice, both Amadio and Perron are drawing closer to returning to the lineup. The Senators will be back in action tomorrow night at Little Caesars Arena to play the Detroit Red Wings in their final game of the nine-game road trip.
