Michael Amadio had a slow start this season to begin his Ottawa Senators tenure. After recording a combined four points in October and November, Amadio has improved big in December.
Despite not scoring a goal, Amadio has recorded six assists in December. With the six assists, Amadio now has 10 points this season and is continuing to improve his game and confidence.
However, in the Senators' 5-4 overtime win last night against the Vancouver Canucks, Amadio had to leave the game in the third period after suffering a hit by Canucks defenseman Vincent Desharnais. Now, Amadio won't be able to play in the Senators' final game before the Christmas break against the Edmonton Oilers.
Amadio out against Oilers
Almost five minutes into the third period, Amadio was hit by Desharnais.
When watching the hit up close, Desharnais' elbow hit Amadio in the face and then Amadio went hard into the boards. No penalty was called on Desharnais following the hit.
With Amadio out, that leads to Cole Reinhardt getting inserted into the lineup. Reinhardt hasn't played since Nov. 30 against the Los Angeles Kings. In five games this season, Reinhardt has two points (one goal and one assist) in averaging 9:15 of ice time per game.
