Kraken game offers perfect chance for Tim Stutzle to make Senators history
As the Ottawa Senators return home to host the Seattle Kraken tonight at 7 p.m. ET at Canadian Tire Centre, the team isn't exactly in the best mood.
The Senators received high praise from Hockey Hall of Famer Henrik Lundqvist for their intensity in their 2-1 loss last night against the New York Rangers, but like any team, no team likes to lose even in a good effort.
As tonight's game approaches, one Senator eager to bounce back is Tim Stutzle. In the loss to the Rangers, Stutzle went pointless on four shots on goal in just over 23 minutes of ice time. However, with returning home to face the Kraken, it offers a perfect chance for Stutzle to make Senators history.
Stutzle's success against Kraken and returning home offer a perfect chance to break an impressive stat in Senators history
Since coming into the NHL in the 2021-22 season, one player that has played well against the Kraken is Stutzle. According to StatMuse, Stutzle has recorded eight points in six games against the Kraken which includes one hat trick.
With Stutzle's success against the Kraken and the Senators returning home to close out their first back-to-back of the season, it offers the perfect chance for Stutzle to break an impressive Senators record. Stutzle needs one goal to break the all-time Senators record for most goals scored in franchise history before turning 23 years old.
This past Tuesday night, Stutzle tied Martin Havlat for the Senators record for most goals scored before turning 23 years old after scoring two goals in the Senators' 8-1 win against the St. Louis Blues with 96 goals. Stutzle's five goals scored this season is tied for second on the team with Drake Batherson and Claude Giroux.
With the Senators' offense having a rough first game to start November against the Rangers after a dominating month of October by scoring 25 goals in the final five games of the month, the Senators are eager to turn it around in the second game of November against the Kraken.
The Kraken come into tonight losing four of their last fives games with the most recent game being a 4-1 loss on Thursday night on the road against the Toronto Maple Leafs. With history close to being made and Stutzle and the Senators being in a bad mood from yesterday's game, tonight can be a historic night for Stutzle and the Senators to see an impressive franchise record be broken.
