October is officially in the books for the Ottawa Senators after last night's dominant 8-1 win at home against the St. Louis Blues. A seven-goal win is a fantastic way to close out the first month of the 2024-25 season.

Through nine games of the 2024-25 season, the Senators have a 5-4-0 record. It can be safe to say that one month into the season that the Senators are one of the biggest surprising teams in the NHL.

The Senators are currently sitting in the second Wild Card spot with 10 points and are in fourth place in the competitive Atlantic Division. One reason why the Senators have had great success through nine games is the dominant offense that they have shown for the month.

Senators' offense has been tremendous in October with consistency

Heading into this season, the Senators needed to find consistency from their top offensive players. Only Tim Stutzle and Brady Tkachuk had 70 points or more last season, but the rest of the team has played incredible so far this season.

To no surprise, Stutzle and Tkachuk are at it again this season. Stutzle leads the Senators in assists with nine and points with 14. Tkachuk leads the Senators with six goals and is second in points with 13. Tkachuk has recorded at least one point in eight of the Senators' nine games.

The Senators have two other players that have over 10 points and and five goals on the season. Those two players are Drake Batherson and Claude Giroux. Batherson has proven why he is an underrated player, and Giroux getting hot makes an offense even stronger. With two assists last night against the Blues, Giroux now has a seven-game point streak.

After dealing with injuries for the past three seasons, the Senators see how important the impact of Josh Norris is. Norris has eight points and also recorded a three-point game in the third game of the season.

Jake Sanderson also has eight points and has been an outstanding player on the Senators' spectacular powerplay. The Senators' powerplay is 12-of-28 (43 percent) and the Senators have scored at least one powerplay goal in seven of the nine games played this season.

After going pointless in the first seven games of the season, Nick Cousins has now recorded points in back-to-back games, and Michael Amadio at last recorded his first point in last night's win against the Blues. Adam Gaudette has scored four goals in the past three games. Gaudette scored two goals in a game twice this season.

In two of the nine games this season, the Senators scored eight goals in a game. In the final five games of the month, the Senators scored a combined 25 goals.

October was a spectacular month for the Senators offense and it will need to continue over into November. The Senators begin November on Friday night in New York City against the New York Rangers. While the Rangers have a tough defense and elite goaltending, the Senators won't be intimidated by a tough challenge to begin the month.
