The Ottawa Senators are currently 31-25-5 this season and are holding the second Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference with 67 points after defeating the Chicago Blackhawks 4-3 in overtime last night.

Even with holding a playoff spot, the Senators haven't made a big trade ahead of tomorrow's trade deadline. With holding a playoff spot, a trade to make the team have a stronger chance at making the 2025 could be needed.

The Senators could use more physicality in the lineup with Nick Cousins still out. Cousins has not played since Jan. 26. There was one forward that the Senators were interested in back in February, that is scratched ahead of their game tonight.

Tanev scratched for Seattle tonight

Brandon Tanev of the Seattle Kraken was in rumors last month to draw interest from the Senators. Elliotte Friedman tweeted recently that Tanev is scratched for the Kraken's game tonight against the Nashville Predators, which could mean Tanev could be on the move soon.

Tanev would bring a strong presence with his defense and physicality to the Senators. The 33-year-old forward is on the final year of his contract $3.5 million.

In his career, Tanev has recorded eight seasons of having at least 100 hits. This season, Tanev has 122 hits and 17 points in 60 games this season with the Kraken.

Having Tanev's physicality to play alongside Cousins, Michael Amadio, Brady Tkachuk, Josh Norris, Ridly Greig can be needed in the Senators lineup.

With Tanev scratched, the watch for what team trades for him begins.
