After the Ottawa Senators were eliminated from the 2025 playoffs by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round in six games, general manager Steve Staios got to work by extending three players to begin the off-season.

Defensemen Nikolas Matinpalo and Tyler Kleven each signed a two-year extension to remain a Senator earlier this Summer. While Fabian Zetterlund signed a three-year extension to remain a Senator two days ago.

Even though more work is needed to be done with signing players, the 2025 NHL Draft is drawing closer for the Senators and Staios. As the draft is set for June 27 and 28 at Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California, it's important to know how many draft picks the Senators have before the draft begins in six days.

Sens have five draft picks in 2025 draft

At the 2025 NHL Draft, the Senators have five draft picks at the moment. After the tough call on whether or not to forfeit their first-round draft pick in 2025 or 2026, the Senators elected to keep their first-round draft in 2025.

After the first-round draft pick, the Senators will have their own draft pick from rounds 3-7. The Senators don't own their second-round draft pick this year due to trading it away in the Zetterlund trade with the San Jose Sharks at the trade deadline this past March.

The Senators' first-round pick in 2025 is the 21st overall pick. With holding that spot, the Senators will hope to land good value for the pick.

In franchise history, the Senators have drafted 21st overall three times. The Senators have taken Anton Volchenkov, Stefan Noesen and Colin White in the three drafts they've held the 21st pick. Some fair selections have been made in Senators history with the 21st pick.

Six days are away for the Senators to improve their team at the 2025 NHL Draft. With having five selections, each pick will be pivotal.

However, the draft pick total could go up or down if a trade or two happens involving the Senators.
