Last Friday, the Ottawa Senators made one more trade before the trade deadline ended after they traded for Dylan Cozens from the Buffalo Sabres. Right before the deadline ended, the Senators traded for Fabian Zetterlund from the San Jose Sharks.

In order to acquire Zetterlund, Tristen Robins and a fourth-round draft pick from the Sharks, the Senators traded away their 2025 second-round draft pick, Noah Gregor and Zack Ostapchuk. Gregor played for the Sharks from 2019-2023, so Gregor had another chance at being a Shark. For Ostapchuk, he played in 50 career games with the Senators after being drafted 39th overall in 2021.

Ostapchuk had a disappointing 2024-25 season with the Senators as he only recorded four points in 43 games before being traded. After eight days following the trade, the time had arrived for Ostapchuk to make his Sharks debut.

Ostapchuk gets in fight and goes pointless in Sharks debut

With Ostapchuk making his Sharks debut, the Sharks fell 5-1 at home to the Washington Capitals. The Sharks remain the worst team in the NHL this season who now dropped to 18-41-9.

Ostpchuk went pointless in the loss, but one moment would stick out for the 21-year-old in his Sharks debut. With the Sharks trailing 3-0 in the second period, Ostapchuk found himself in a fight against Tom Wilson, one of the NHL's biggest power forwards.

While Ostapchuk did go pointless, not backing down against one of the NHL's biggest fighters shows Ostapchuk isn't afraid of anyone.

Ostapchuk ended his Sharks debut by recording one shot on goal, one block, one hit and getting into a fight in 7:50 of ice time. Ostapchuk's 7:50 ice time was the lowest among the Sharks roster in today's game.
