On Tuesday night against the New York Islanders, the Ottawa Senators won 2-0, but the win came with a price. Less than halfway through the first period, defenseman Thomas Chabot had to leave the game after getting hit in the face with a puck.
At the morning skate today, Chabot was skating, but is still not ready to go. Not having Chabot in the lineup tonight against a high powered Washington Capitals offense will be more of a challenge.
It will now be next man up with Chabot out. An opportunity now awaits for Donovan Sebrango who fills in for Chabot, but there will be more pressure for tonight's game.
Sebrango will make NHL debut tonight
Sebrango filling in for Chabot means that Sebrango will make his NHL debut tonight. Four days after turning 23 years old, the moment has arrived for Sebrango.
Sebrango was the former 63rd overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft by the Detroit Red Wings. Since the 2020-21 season, Sebrango has played a combined 198 AHL games.
This season with the Belleville Senators in the AHL, Sebrango has recorded 13 points, which is the seventh most on Belleville's roster, and the second most among defensemen.
Sebrango will have a tough challenge facing the Capitals offense led by Alex Ovechkin, Tom Wilson and Dylan Strome, but it's a challenge that every team faces when playing the Capitals. Puck drop for tonight's game is at 7 p.m. ET.
