With the 136th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, the Ottawa Senators selected Jorian Donovan, a defenseman from Calgary, Alberta.
Prior to being drafted in 2022, Donovan had spent his time in the OHL playing for the Hamilton Bulldogs in the 2021-22 season. That season Donovan recorded 22 points with a +25 rating. In the following 2022-23 season with the Bulldogs, Donovan's +/- rating dropped to -9, but he recorded a 45-point season.
Last season and this season have seen some tough stretches for Donovan. This season, Donovan has spent the entire season in the AHL with the Belleville Senators. But, the 20-year-old is now having a hot offensive stretch that not many people may have saw coming.
Donovan is having a hot two-game offensive stretch
While Donovan's teammate Jeremy Davis has made a strong impression in Belleville this season, Donovan is starting to get hot.
Over the past two games, Donovan has recorded three games. The past two games are the first time all season that Donovan has recorded points in consecutive games.
Against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins tonight, Donovan recorded two assists to help Belleville earn a 4-1 win. Not only was tonight the first time all season that Donovan has recorded a multi-point game, but Donovan recorded the primary assist on his two assists. In the game prior to tonight against Laval Rocket, Donovan scored his first goal of the season.
Prior to his three points over the past two games, Donovan had only recorded four assists. While Donovan is more known for his defense, his offense has helped Belleville lately.
