The Ottawa Senators are currently battling a tough stretch. The Senators' 4-3 loss on Saturday night against the Vancouver Canucks has caused them to lose five consecutive games for the first time this season.

Despite struggles with an 8-11-1 record, the Senators have gotten a huge offensive boost from Adam Gaudette. In 19 games this season, Gaudette is tied for third on the Senators in goals with eight alongside Drake Batherson and Josh Norris.

When a team is in a five-game losing streak, teams might look to try something new to bring in a new form of luck. For Gaudette, he might have the perfect chance to raise his game and help the Senators as they host the Calgary Flames tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Gaudette put on top line in yesterday's practice

Yesterday in practice, head coach Travis Green decided to switch up the lines. One major change that Green made came on the top line. Green decided to put Gaudette on the top line alongside Brady Tkachuk and Tim Stutzle.

When asked about the line switch, Green said you have to try some different things when you're losing.

For Gaudette, this can be a prime opportunity to raise his game and be more of a major piece on the Senators offense. Being next to Tkachuk and Stutzle on the same line sure can help Gaudette.

So far this season, Tkachuk leads the Senators in goals with 10 and is second on the team with 21 points. Stutzle leads the Senators with 15 assists and 24 points.

Gaudette has already been a big offensive surprise with scoring eight goals, but his offense can be relied on more than ever. This season, Gaudette has proven he can be an offensive threat.

Gaudette has scored two goals in a game twice this season. In addition to scoring two goals in a game twice, Gaudette has been big for the Senators powerplay. Three of Gaudette's eight goals have been scored on the powerplay.

Although Gaudette has a chance to raise his game even more, he has risen his game into being a trade bait piece with his surprising season.

Gaudette hasn't been looked at as an offensive threat for most of his career. In the 2019-20 season, Guadette recorded a career-high 33 points with 12 of them being goals. With four more goals away from tying his career-high, Gaudette is drawing closer.
