After Saturday night's 4-3 loss to the Vancouver Canucks, the Ottawa Senators' losing streak extended to a season high five games. Frustration is higher than ever this season for the Senators with an 8-11-1 record and being 28th overall in the NHL.

Before the Senators head to California for a three-game road trip, the fourth and final game of the four-game home stand against the Calgary Flames is another tough test on the schedule. The Senators will now play their fourth consecutive game against Western Conference team who comes into tonight's game red hot.

Senators host Flames in final game of home stand

The Senators host the Flames at Canadian Tire Centre with puck drop at 7:30 p.m. ET. Against the Flames last season, the Senators split the season series, but won at home 4-1 in November 2023.

Frustration hit a season high on Saturday for the Senators in their loss to the Canucks. Captain Brady Tkachuk had 21 penalty minutes. The Senators trailed 4-1 late in the third period before Claude Giroux and Tim Stutzle scored to make it 4-3, but it was too little too late for the Senators. Saturday's loss was also the second consecutive one-goal loss in regulation.

Desperate times will call for desperate measures when a team has lost five games in a row. Yesterday, the Senators placed Zack MacEwen on waivers and recalled Zack Ostapchuk from Belleville. MacEwen had just three points in 19 games played this season for the Senators.

As for the Flames, they are hot with winning their past four games to have a 12-6-3 record. Despite not having a player with 15 points or more on the roster, the Flames have been able to win games due to their goaltending duo of Dustin Wolf and Dan Vladar. Wolf and Vladar combined have a 2.67 goals against average.

Jonathan Huberdeau and Matt Coronato are tied for the most goals on the Flames with six. Defenseman Rasmus Andersson leads the Flames with 13 points this season.

The Senators are in desperate need of a win to save their season from getting worse. With the Senators dropping in the standings due to losing the past five games with the past three at home, tonight's game adds more pressure for the Senators to prevent themselves from falling worse in the standings. The Senators are currently 28th overall in the NHL.
