With the Ottawa Senators shorthanded at forward they have been forced to make some roster moves. They have opted to recall Filip Chlapik and Jack Rodewald from Belleville.
The Ottawa Senators haven’t had the best of luck with injuries this season. Despite getting their players who were injured in the offseason quickly, they have gone on a run of bad luck with injuries.
Injuries
Colin White remains out with his broken wrist from the pre-season. He is making progress and should return soon, but he isn’t ready yet. Additionally, forwards Zack Smith and Bobby Ryan have sustained injuries in recent games. Now it has come out that Kyle Turris is out with an illness. This leaves the Sens very shorthanded at forward.
With the Sens sending Logan Brown back to junior it means they needed someone else to step in with there regulars out with injuries. As a result, they recalled Filip Chlapik and Jack Rodewald.
Rodewald
Rodewald was one of the Sens stronger players during the pre-season. Although he was never really in contention to make the team he did build a case to be one of the first callups. That and he has four points in five games thus far in the AHL.
Chlapik
Chlapik was one of the last forwards sent down to Belleville during training camp. He had a serious chance at making the team. He was probably the Sens best forward who wasn’t a regular, Logan Brown, or Alex Formenton. Chlapik will likely be the Sens first option to step into the lineup out of him and Rodewald.

Running With The Opportunity
The Ottawa Senators are in a bad situation early on this season. They have an abundance of injuries to their forward group and will need younger players to step up. With two prospects being called up they will have to take this opportunity, or the Sens could be in bad shape.
