Following their loss to the Los Angeles Kings the Ottawa Senators have made a roster move. They decided to send Logan Brown back to junior where he will continue his development.
Coming into the season no one expected Brown to make the team. The rookie forward slot was reserved for Colin White. However, with White going down with an injury the door opened for Brown to step up, and step up he did. He performed remarkably well during training camp and the pre-season to earn a spot on the team on opening night.
Silencing His Doubters
Prior to the season Brown was coming off an injury riddled season that resulted in many questioning his status as a prospect. Brown shut down the critics quickly as he showed he has the potential to be a very good NHL player.
Not Ready Defensively
While Brown did earn a spot on opening night, he was limited in his deployment by head coach Guy Boucher. Brown only played in four games in total and was limited to less than eleven minutes in each game. Two of the games he didn’t get to seven minutes. This lack of deployment came from Boucher not trusting Brown in the defensive aspect of the game just yet.
With Brown not playing much in the NHL the team decided it would be best to send him back to junior. This is certainly the right decision as he will have the opportunity to have a big year in junior and make the team next year. Overall this will be much better for his development.

Returning To Ottawa Soon
Despite not getting much ice time Brown did get his first NHL point, an assist, during his short time with the Ottawa Senators. This experience should help him stand above his peers in junior. With a strong season it may not be long until Brown is back in the nation’s capital.
