Ottawa’s Defensive Issues, Talk Of The Future, Elite Centers

AROUND THE WEB:

Silver Seven “Is Ottawa Capable of Handling Leads? ” – Ary M

Submission: Zachary Prenner

If you like your stats fancy, then Ary M at Silver Seven Sens has you covered. With a little help, he dissects the Senators defence core and asks the question: Are the Senators defensemen capable of handling leads?

I think we have some talent on our blueline, but soo many of the players on our team are very young – espescially the defence. As we saw against Boston, we can get a little jittery at times. It’s not an easy fix, but I think GMBM would do well to search for another solid veteran d-man who’s best years aren’t already behind him ( a-la Marc Methot).

The Players Tribune “Elite Centers 101” – Logan Couture

Submission: Eldrinson Vado

I stumbled across an old but great article from the theplayerstribune.com. This article was written by San Jose center, Logan Couture back in January.

Logan analyzes what makes an elite center in the NHL, listing off the key skills from greats like Jonathan Toews, Anze Kopitar and more. The article puts into perspective just how amazing some of the NHL elite’s really are, especially when compared to their counterparts.

Silver Seven “What is best for the future?” – Ary M

Submission: Trevor Shackles

Ary at Silver Seven talks about a similar issue, and he asks what’s better for the future for the team. As much as this run has been fun, a middle pick instead of a top one may hurt this team.

6th Sens “The Perils of No-man’s Land” – Nichols

Submission: Josh Chenoweth

6th Sens looks at how the Sens’ recent run (excluding the Boston game) can be a dangerous thing for the team’s long-term future. It’ll be even worse if this team again falls short of a playoff appearance.

A Look at Clarke MacArthur, who has put up a disappointing 14-15 campaign. He’s currently out with injury, but with a significant pay raise coming next season, expect Grizz to step it up. Clarke MacArthur vs Milan Michalek.
