The 6th Sens “Report: Teams Inquiring about Jared Cowen” – Nichols

Submission: Trevor Shackles

Nichols at the 6th Sens relays what Bruce Garrioch had reported, which is that Jared Cowen has drawn trade interest. Personally, I would try to trade him for anything, as I’m sure another team out there over-values him.

I bet Ottawa would still be able to get a decent return, and I don’t see his career going that far, at least as a top 4 defenseman.

Metro Ottawa “Senators’ List Of Trade Candidates a long one” – Murray Pam

The Senators are set to head into the Trade Deadline with the expectation that a move will not be made.

Murray Pam of Metro Ottawa goes over the list of potential trade candidates and discusses Erik Condra and others in a column examining  if “the Senators (are) buyers or sellers at the March 2 trade deadline?

Pam asks a question that still is unknown as the Senators’ recent 5-game winning streak makes the situation more complicated.

Ottawa Sun “Bryan Murray Passed On Acquiring David Clarkson ” – Bruce Garrioch

Submission: Eldrinson Vado

More from SenShot

Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun writes that our GM, Bryan Murray passed on acquiring Leafs forward, David Clarkson this past week. Dave Nonis (Leafs GM) made a call to Bryan and asked if he was interested in a deal for the underachieving, big money forward. More details about the once possible trade in Bruce’s report.

Silver Seven “Can The Senators Exploit The Falling Cap” – Ary M.

Submission: Zachary Prenner

The crew over at S7S delves into this question: can the Senators take advantage of cap – crunched teams? Bryan Murray has gone on record saying he isn’t looking for rentals come March 2nd – but he is open to a Bobby Ryan type trade.

With the cap likely falling next season, it really makes things interesting for a budget team like the Senators. I’d love to go after someone like Patrick Sharp of Chicago, Torey Krug from Boston, or maybe a Keith Yandle out of Arizona.
