Shane Prince Added To AHL All-Star Roster

The Binghamton Senators third year pro forward Shane Prince has been added to the 2015 AHL All-Star Classic roster taking place in Utica, NY on Jan 25th & 26th. He will be joining defenseman Chris Wideman as the two representing the Senators in the annual event.

This will be Prince’s first appearance for the All-Stars and deservedly so as he’s been lighting it up this season. In 37 games he has scored 14 goals, adding 17 assists and a +4 in setting himself up for career highs in those categories by season’s end. Noted for his quick release featuring a hard wrist shot, he’s the team leader in goals and two points behind Wideman for the overall point lead. His 14.9 shot percentage is ranked third.

The 22-year-old native from Spencerport, NY was a second round draft pick in 2011, 61st overall.

More from Belleville Senators

Prince will have a chance to defend the Fastest Skater Event that was awarded to Binghamton Senators Mike Hoffman in 2014 with a time just under 14 seconds (13.990) as he dove towards the finish line, which he later claimed he tripped.

Has speed and very good hands while being crafty with the puck as he’s been crashing the net more often breaking the perimeter style of play from seasons ago. He’s yet to have a shot with the parent club, but with this announcement it shouldn’t hurt his chances at some point in being the next forward in need.

Prince was also selected as a recipient of the AHL Player of the Week honors awarded to him on Dec 1st, 2014.

A fan favorite in and around Binghamton on as well as off the ice in participating in many team charity events surrounding the community. Whether it’s visiting local hospitals or schools, he’s always one of the ones to make kids smile.

Congrats Shane and take home that fastest skater event again!
