With the 192nd overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft, the New Jersey Devils selected Jeremy Davies. Since being drafted, the defenseman has only played in 23 NHL games, and hasn't played in an NHL game since the 2022-23 season.

Davies has spent a large part of his career in the AHL. Davies has played in the AHL since the 2019-20 season when he was a member of the Milwuakee Admirals.

This past Summer, Davies joined the Ottawa Senators on a one-year, $775,000 contract. This Summer, Davies could ask for a bigger contract, which he can deserve.

Davies was solid in Belleville all season

Davies spent the entire 2024-25 season with the Belleville Senators in the AHL, but it was the best AHL season of Davies' career.

When the 2024-25 season concluded, Davies' 48 points was the tied for the second highest on Belleville's roster, and his 37 assists were tied for the most on Belleville's roster. Both stats were shared with Garrett Pilon. Davies' +9 rating was also the third highest on Belleville's roster, and his 11 goals were the most among Belleville defensemen.

Davies' 48 points not only was high for Belleville, but it set a new career-high for points in a single AHL season. Davies recorded 13 more points in the 2024-25 season than he did in the 2023-24 season. At 28 years old, the Quebec defenseman found his game and groove in Belleville more than ever.

This Summer, Davies is an unrestricted free agent. With the season that Davies had, a raise of a contract can be due.

Despite not being called up to play one NHL game, Davies showed that he's still able to be a steady defenseman in the NHL if called up.

Throughout the 2024-25 season, Davies was growing and impressed all season long. Now, with the season that he had, the question arrives of whether or not Ottawa will re-sign him.

A potential one or two-year contract at $825,000 per year could be in the ballpark for Davies to sign. Davies still can provide leadership to a Belleville team that will be eager to return to the playoffs after missing out in 2025.
